You know those girls who can get everything they need for an entire weekend into a chic little travel bag like this…
I’m not one of those girls. I’m actually a serial over-packer and I may even be a bit of a bag lady. But this time I’m determined to keep it under control. I will literally only be gone for 4 days. I also forced myself not to buy a lot for this trip. I guess that means I’m getting a little wiser with age? Either way, here’s what I got.
1. Panama Hat

I’ve tried on a bunch of panama hats in the last few days and take it from me, this J.Crew version is the best. It fits so well. It’s lightweight, but provides a lot of sun coverage. And I just love it. To see it in action, visit The Daybook. Sydney wore it on her vacation in Hawaii and basically sold me on it before I ever visited it in the store.
2. Flat Sandals

I already have 2 pairs of the Sam Edelman Gigi sandal (in silver and leopard print) and they’re my favorite summer sandal. They’re so easy and comfortable, but they look more “put together” than a flip flop. I needed a black pair and found these at Cusp for $36. Done and done. (Bonus: they come with extra spikes and rhinestones because you know after a month or so they start dropping like flies.)
I am such a sucker for Chanel makeup. I’ve been on a makeup “fast” lately because I realized when I moved out that I have a ton of products. A ton. If I got married tomorrow, my husband would only have enough space for his toothbrush and deodorant in my bathroom. But I just felt like I needed to get…something. Enter Chanel’s blush duo tweed effect. It comes in 4 different shades and I chose Tweed Sienna. I loved the gold flecks because they’re not so shimmery that I’ll be sparkling all over the place.
4. Running Shorts

I’ve been testing running shorts lately and, surprisingly, I haven’t found one that I don’t like yet. Note to my fellow thunder thigh ladies: go for a longer, tighter short. It should basically be a shortened version of your favorite running crop. Bonus points if it has some type of a grippy material around your thigh. I suggest the Lululemon Run: Dart and Dash Short and the Nike Tech Women’s Short. They are both SO worth the price. I bought the Lulu groove short (above) in regular and tall last week because I wanted a few shorts that would work for other sports too. I’m loving them so far (especially since I got them on sale), but I’ll give a full review after I test them out on the tennis court this weekend.
5. That’s it! My wallet and the wall of unworn clothes in my closet are so thrilled! Now all I have to do is pack it all into one compact bag. And maybe a big tote?
