High/Low Lights.

This has been a tough week. My cousin, Tamika, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday. Just writing that seems so strange. In fact, after I typed it, I just stared at the screen for a while, wondering what to say next. This week, more than ever, I’m fully aware that life is too short.

{Top to Bottom: Tamika, my older sister Crystal, and Jared circa 1989}

Tamika was the oldest grandchild on my dad’s side and she was already in high school when my brother was born. But despite the age difference, they had a special bond. So it was a bittersweet moment when Jared scored his first NFL touchdown the day after she left this Earth. I know she would’ve loved to see it, but I’m sure she did.

I’m heading to Houston to be with my family next week so it will probably be quiet around here for a few days. In the meantime, please say a prayer for her parents and children. They need God’s peace and comfort now more than ever. Thanks and have a great weekend everyone!
